Each student has to adhere
to the following rules, which provide structure for students to gain most
from the academic year experience.
Poor attendance:
Any student with THREE absences
from class without the approval of the Director/Coordinator will be required
to arrange a meeting with the Director, Coordinator and their parents to
determine if he/she will be allowed to continue in the program.
Tardiness to Classes, field trips and Seminars: There is to be
no Tardiness to classes and any other of the program activities. There must
be a legitimate excuse for the absence. A student more than ten minutes
late will be counted as absent. TWO tardies will be counted as one absence.
Disruptive Behavior: A student displaying disruptive behavior
will be disciplined accordingly and may be required to arrange a meeting
with the Director, Coordinator and their parents to determine if he/she
will be allowed to continue in the program. The use of cell phones
and pagers in class are prohibited.
Use or possession of Drugs and/or Alcohol: Any
student caught with or who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will
be expelled from the program immediately. "who appears
to be under the influence" means the following--If a student is reported
to be unresponsive, "spaced out", inattentive, "nodding off"
or exhibiting unusual behavior, the staff members will discuss the behavior
in conference. The student will be questioned for his/her behavior and if
determined to be under the influence, then the parents will be notified
and the student will be dismissed.
Non-Participation: It is assumed that the students of the
PRISM program have the intent to improve their academic
skills and study habits and the lack of participation and/or incomplete assignments
will not be tolerated.
Sign-Out: Early dismissals should be approved by the Director/
Coordinator. They are required to sign in the book that is kept by the prism
staff.
Teasing and Harassment: Teasing and Harassment or any form
of abuse or mistreatment of a student by another student will not be tolerated.
Violation of this will be taken up by the program Director/Coordinator and
appropriate action will be taken.
I.D Cards: For the purpose of using recreational and other
university facilities, students are issued I.D cards. While on campus the
students are to be where they are scheduled to be. We advise students to
carry their card with them at all times to be identified as PRISM
students.
