Maria Mitchell

Maria MitchellMaria Mitchell recieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Before becoming a Kindermusik instructor for Cadek, Maria was on the music staff at the Creative Discovery Museum in Chattanooga. There she helped write and teach music activities and worked in the recording studio. Maria has taught music classes in preschool and Mother's Day Out programs, and has more than 25 years experience working with children in church music programs.

Maria discovered the excellent Kindermusik curriculum in 2001 and has been delighted to teach it ever since.  Maria has taught all four levels of the Kindermusik curricula, from newborns to age 7.  She has taken courses in early childhood music and music pedagogy from many leading experts in the field including Katie Henderson, Helen Petersen, Ginger Bennett, and Carol Penney and has become board certified by Kindermusik International.  In 2008, Maria initiated a local chapter of the Partnership of Kindermusik Educators for the Chattanooga area and is a frequent presenter of Masterful Teaching Workshops.  In 2011, Maria became the Tennessee State Representative for Kindermusik International.

Many of Maria's Kindermusik students go on to take private studio lessons at the Cadek Conservatory of Music.  The private studio instructors are delighted in the excellent musical preparation that Maria's students have.  In a Loyalty Survey a parent of one of Maria's students stated, "We have an excellent teacher!"
