Name of Activity:     “Earn a Quarter of a Million Dollars in Sports and Never Play a  Game!”

Time Frame:             Two weeks

Links with Other Subjects:  English, Technology, Mathematics, Physical Education, History, Science

Resources/Materials:
Internal: Computer,  books, magazines, library, librarian, technology coordinator
External: Local sports referees, sports writers, sports broadcasters, athletes, coaches, trainers, team doctors, and statisticians

Desired Outcomes/Competencies:
1. Students can list ten sports related careers.
2. Students can search the Internet for research purposes.
3. Students can prepare and give an electronic presentation.

Description of the Process:

  •  Discuss and list various sports related careers.
  •  Explore the websites with the class and discover other sports related careers.
  •  Students, individually or in small groups, select one sports related career to investigate.
  •  Using a presentation software package, students develop, prepare, and present five slides relating to their selected topic.
