Narrative: As a key partner, Trane, Inc. has provided teacher & student internships, teacher & student job shadowing opportunities, and shared many training sessions and material with educators in the Clarksville area. In this particular project, twelve high school students participated in an internship at Trane that was integrated with their Economics class during the entire spring semester. The students attended school half day and worked a half-day for Trane. Allowed access to all departments at Trane, they participated in employee training and all aspects of the industry. At the end of the semester, the students presented a PowerPoint presentation and video of their project to parents, faculty and the Tri-County Partnership Technical Team.
It Works! This project provided a working model for internships that expose students to all aspects of an industry. Survey results from students and employees who worked with the students were very favorable. Trane, Inc and Clarksville High are already making plans for the spring semester of 2001.
