Narrative: The Jackson-Madison County Schools implemented a Technology Scholars program in 1999 to recognize outstanding graduating seniors who have pursued a high school education which consists of at least 4 credits in one vocational cluster and have excelled both in their academic and career/technology classes. Students are recognized by a special seal on their diploma; commencement programs recognition; luncheon; and listed in a publication sent to 2000 businesses and industries.
It Works! In 1999, the schools had 43 Technology Scholars. In 2000, there were 55. The Chamber has validated the importance of this program by budgeting for the annual luncheon and publication. The students, recognized by being selected as Technology Scholars, are in the top 5% of their program and excel in competitions.
