Postsecondary Involvement

Narrative:  When the Maury County Education/Community/Business Partnership began in 1997, Columbia State Community College was an integral part of developing the vision, mission and organizational structure of the partnership. The Partnership has worked hard to create a "culture of open communication and cooperation" which enables all stakeholders to collaborate successfully. The College's commitment to the Partnership has enabled Maury County to have access to a wide variety of expertise from faculty and staff ranks.

It Works!  Columbia State Community College's involvement has included a range of activities that include the following:

  1. Leadership Activities: The President served on the Executive Committee. A staff person was assigned to work directly with the partnership. Over 25 staff and faculty members regularly participated in meetings, retreats and goal teams.
  2. Educational Programs and Service: Coordinated community-wide Daggett needs survey; assisted in curriculum alignment efforts and curriculum mapping, participated in mentoring programs; and co-sponsored career fairs.
  3. Technical Assistance: provided partnership with socio-economic data; assisted in design and analysis of surveys; researched model programs and practices; provided leadership for grant writing efforts exceeding $350,000; assisted in professional development activities; and developed and implemented Partnership Leadership Modules.
