IDENT-A-CARD

Narrative:  The Tipton County Schools were looking for a more cost effective method of securing school identification cards and a process that minimized the disruption to classes more traditional methods created. They decided to secure the equipment to provide this service to students. Involving the Photography classes in the project at Tipton County High School, the instructor taught the students the basics of photography and how to operate the software and hardware needed to create the identification cards.

It Works!  The project was successful in addressing the two goals. Prior to the school implementing their own system of securing identification card the cost was $5 per student. Now the cost is only in the consumable supplies needed for producing the cards. Additionally, students now create memory cards or trading cards for athletic programs and other activities and charge $5. The income generated from these projects is returned to the program. Disruption of classes has been minimized and the project has fine-tuned their process to only pull students out of classes for a few minutes during the course of one day versus over a period of several days.
