Description: PATH (Parents as Tender Healers) is the pre-service training designed to orient prospective resource parents. Participants receive information about the type of children in the child welfare system, general mechanics of Tennessee’s child welfare system and expectations of resource parents. Key themes of race and culture, community partnerships, working with birth families and youth and implications of grief and loss are woven throughout the entire curriculum. The training includes an Intake and nine sessions as well as videotapes and homework assignments.
Audience: This class will be required by all resource parents. This class is also offered to Resource Parent Trainers from Private Provider Agencies and Consortium Universities.
