MicroComet Program
Grades 3-4
MicroComet Mission
It is the year 2061. Traveling between Earth and Mars, the Micro Comet crew is on a mission to locate Comet Halley. After locating the comet, this scientific team of explorers will launch a probe into the comet to hopefully discover the secrets of this ancient cosmic material.
1 hour MicroComet Program - $300
- Includes MicroComet Mission and one MicoComet EVA of your choice.
- Maximum is 36 participants — Divided into 2 groups up to 18 students each. Groups with more than 36 students MUST do the 2 hour program.
- A MicroComet Crew Manifest is required for each group. (See MicroComet Forms below.)
2 hour MicroComet Program -$400
- Includes Micro Comet Mission, and two MicroComet EVAs of your choice.
- Maximum is 54 participants — Divided into 3 groups up to 18 students each.

MicroComet EVAs
Grades 3-4
Micronaut Technology
- Students will learn about the uses of NanoSatellites in space.
- Students will work in pairs to build a NanoSatellite (NanoSat) using origami method of paper folding.
- If time allows, studens will investigate different components of the day and night sky.
Telescope Tech
- Students will explore the concepts of reflection and refraction and discuss their differences.
- Students will learn the different parts of a telescope.
- Students will use a refracting telescope to observe distant objects.
Moon Phases
- Students will investigate the sun, earth, moon and their interactions with each other.
- Students will learn the eight moon phases and will model and discuss each phase.
MicroRockets
- Students will build and launch a MicroRocket.
- Students will organizer launch results using a bar graph.
- Studens will read and interpret the results using a bar graph.
