Camp Coordinators: Andrea Exum and Laura Minor
Cadek Conservatory's Suzuki Camp provides a week of intensive music and related activities in a fun, relaxed environment. The goal of our camp is to help children develop musicianship as well as playing skills, and our activities are designed with that in mind. Group classes will provide the opportunity to refine performance skills, play with others, perform before audiences, and review and polish known music pieces. Enrichment classes will explore related areas, such as movement, improvisation, history, or art. Note reading and theory are important topics for all musicians, and our classes will be divided by ability levels. Classes are taught through ear-training, games, and written work by highly trained instructors. |
What's New?!! Parents are highly encouraged to attend, take notes, and learn right along with the students. Daily recitals will close out each camp session from 1:30PM-2:00PM. As usual, the kids have FUN and the instructors are COOL. So join us for the best week of the summer! |
What does my child need to be PREPARED? Your child will be placed in a group by ability level. All previously learned songs should be memorized and the child must bring the Suzuki book. Camper should have at least two polished pieces memorized and have chosen a current working piece. LUNCH is 11:00AM-11:45AM. YOUR CHILD SHOULD BRING A LUNCH DAILY. Our Location The Suzuki Camp will be held at the Cadek Conservatory of Music on the UTC Campus. Cadek Hall is at 725 Oak Street, across from the UTC Lockmiller Apartments, one block from McCallie Avenue and Palmetto Street.. Teen Counselors Once again we are featuring an opportunity for teenagers to have a fulfilling experience as a camp counselor. This will also contribute to the experience of the younger children. If you are 13-18 years old, enjoy working with children, and would like to hone your musical skills, this is perect for you! During the day the counselors will assist the teachers during classes and help supervise campers between classes and at lunch, in addition to various other duties. Each teen counselor will be offered one lesson during the week with one of the many talented faculty members. Teens must attend an orientation session; date and time to be announced. All counselors must be recommended by their private instructor. |
