UTC operates on the semester system, with each semester running approximately 15 weeks in length. The summer semester consists of several sessions. Summer 1 AM, Summer 2 AM, and Summer 3 AM are each 4 1/2 weeks in length, while the overlapping Summer 1 PM and Summer 2 PM sessions are each 6 1/2 weeks long.
ALWAYS check the timetable and the current academic calendar for the specific semester dates.
When scheduling permits, a "free" day is scheduled following fall and spring semesters and before final exams begin. This is known as Reading Day. Reading Day will be used for make up classes in the event of class cancellations due to weather conditions or other related causes.
Fall Break usually occurs during mid-October and usually lasts for two days (Friday - Tuesday generally). Spring Break usually occurs during mid-March and lasts for one full week.
Typical Course Schedule Information
See http://www.utc.edu/Public/ClassFind/ for the schedule of classes.
| Monday, Wednesday, Friday classes | 50 minute classes beginning at 8:00 am (usually begin on the hour; 10 minutes between class sessions)
|
| Tuesday, Thursday classes | 75 minute classes beginning at 8:00 am with 10 minutes between classes
|
| Evening classes | Most evening classes begin at 5:30 pm, meet once per week, and generally last 2 1/2 hours; start times are dependent on departmental preferences. Check with your department about evening classes. |
| Other class sessions | Other class session times are determined by departmental preferences. |
It is very important that you turn your grades in on time!
Grades for graudation candidates are listed on pink grade sheet forms; grades for all other students are listed on blue grade sheet forms. Grades are generally due by 12 pm on the day after the last day of exams.
Grades are processed in batch files and ALL grades must be turned in before processing can begin. Students in classes where faculty have NOT turned in their grades in on time will receive incompletes (I) and the professor will be required to complete grade change forms for each one. NOT TURNING IN YOUR GRADES ON TIME CAN KEEP SOME OF YOUR STUDENTS FROM GRADUATING!
Parking is strictly enforced on the UTC campus. A hang tag is required to park in certain lots (general or reserved). Parking hang tags can be obtained in Parking Services, located in the Administrative Services Building, Palmetto Street (first floor). Faculty can arrange to purchase hang tags good for the entire year, paid for through payroll deduction. Parking is particularly tight during the "prime" class hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Check out the parking services web site.
Aramark provide food services on campus. They are currently located in the University Center. There are several restaurants close to campus.
Check out the campus maps for a look at the buildings.
