Master of Education In School Leadership Interested in a master's program that will enhance your leadership skills as a teacher leader, an aspiring administrator, or both? The “School Leadership Program” at UTC is an excellent program, grounded in theories that are essential knowledge for school leaders, based on the ISLLC Standards, and focused on the reflective practice that is a necessary pre-requisite for a beginning school leader. Click on the brochure for more information. Admission requirements for the master's program are explained here. A recommended course sequence is here. Post Masters Certificate in School Leadership The Post Master's Certificate Program in School Leadership is designed for persons who already have a master's degree in education but are interested in obtaining a license/certificate as a "School Administrator/Principal/Supervisor" (TN or GA).In most cases, the PMCSL student will need to take six to eight courses in addition to those taken in the previous master's program. An individual consultation with Dr. Vicki Petzko will clarify specific requirements. Click here for a brochure. A recommended course sequence for the certificate program is here. Field Experience Menu: Both programs require that the student complete approximately 450 hours of field experience. It is in the student's best interest to begin these experiences at the beginning of his/her course of study. The requirement is explained in detail in EDAS 551 (Foundations). The menu available here lists examples of appropriate experiences. NOTE: the student is NOT expected to complete all of these experiences, but rather a total of 450 hours, distributed across the six ISLLC Standards. |
