Office Hours, Grading, and Exam Times for

Math 308

Office Hours

 

Your instructor’s office hours will be 12:00-1:00 M, 3:00-5:00 TT, or you can just go to your instructor’s office at any time hoping that he will be there. My Math 308 students can also drop by one of my calculus computer labs which are scheduled from 1:00-2:50 on Monday afternoon, and 10:50-12:40 on Tuesday.  Your instructor will often be able to assist with 308 assignments in between the calculus questions.

 

Exam Schedule and Grading Percentages

 

Part of the exams will be done in Maple and collected electronically by your instructor.

 

Exam 1

17% of the course grade

 

Tuesday, February 4  

The sections that will be on this exam will be announced in class. If you can’t work a homework problem from one of these sections then you need to get help from someone.

Exam 2

17% of the course grade

 

Tuesday, February 25

Exam 3

17% of the course grade

 

Tuesday, April 8

Computer Projects

17% of the course grade

Final Exam

32% of the course grade

 

The final exam is cumulative with approximately equal weight given to each of the sections that we covered in our course.

Make-up Tests:

 

Make-up tests will be given only for extreme circumstances. NOT considered extreme are: inadequate time to study for the test; another test on the same day; personal vacation; oversleeping; ignorance about the test date (this list is not exhaustive). If you must miss a test you must inform me in advance if possible; in any case you must present proof of the reasons for your absence. The make-up must be taken on the next class day.

 

 

Grading Scale:

 

Grading for the semester will be according to the following scale:

 

100% ³ A ³ 90% > B ³ 80% > C ³ 70% > D ³ 60% > F

 

Any curving of grades will be determined after the final exam is graded.
