Office Hours and Grading for Math 210

 

Fall 2009 Term

 

Math 210.002 meets on MWF from 9:00-9:50

Math 210.004 meets on MWF from 11:00-11:50

 

Office Hours:

 

Your instructor’s office hours will be 2:00-3:00 MTWTF and before and after classes in EMCS 410 or you can just go to your instructor’s office at any time hoping that he will be there. Your instructor has classes at the following times: 9MWF, 11MWF, 1MWF and 3:05-4:20TT.

 

 

Grade Determination:    

The four exams (lowest will be dropped) are worth 300 points. The computer assignments are 50 points. The final exam is 100 points. The total number of points possible is 450.

On exam days students will want to bring a calculator, sharpened pencils (UTC has no sharpeners available in classrooms), photo ID, and the textbook. It will be announced in class when students are permitted to use the tables in the textbook.

Final Exam

This is a cumulative exam. Under special conditions some students might choose not to take the final exam. The policy for these special conditions is described below.

 

Friday December 4,   8:00-10:00 (Math 210.002)  

Friday December 4,  11:00-1:00 (Math 210.003)  

Special conditions for the final exam:

  1. If you take all four exams scoring no less than 70% on each exam, and if you have accumulated 405 points which is a 90 average on the four exams and the computer assignments then you will be exempt from the final exam with an A in the course. The lowest grade is not dropped for this special condition calculation.
  2. If you take all four exams scoring no less than 60% on each exam, and if you have accumulated 360 points which is an 80 average on the four exams and the computer assignments then you will be exempt from the final exam with a B in the course. The lowest grade is not dropped for this special condition calculation.

Make-up Tests:

IF YOU MISS A TEST, THAT WILL BE THE SCORE DROPPED!

NO MAKEUP EXAMS WILL BE GIVEN UNLESS EXTREME CONDITIONS WARRANT SPECIAL CONSIDERATION!

 

Grading Scale:

 

Grading for the semester will be according to the following scale with any adjustments determined by the instructor after the final exams are graded:

100% ³ A ³ 90% > B ³ 80% > C ³ 70% > D ³ 60% > F
