Math 161

Math 161 is the lecture part of a course which has traditionally been called Calculus II. At UTC the laboratory part of this course, Math 162, has a significant part of the material that is usually taught as part of Calculus II. By taking both courses a student will cover the material that would be covered in Calculus II as taught at many universities. The major topics for Math 161 are:

A goal of this course is to prepare students to take Differential Equations(Math 245) and Multivariable Calculus(Math 255). In particular, integration techniques are needed for Multivariable Calculus and improper integrals are needed for Differential Equations. Although not every student will take all of the following courses, this course covers material that is needed for Calculus based Physics, Physical Chemistry, and many Engineering courses.

The links below refer specifically to Math 161 in the current term or in the last term that I taught the course.

Some scans of old exam keys are available below. Please note that these exams will be different from the exams given this term. Knowing how to work the problems on these keys will help you to get more points on the exams this term, but we might cover material this term that we did not cover in the previous terms.
