Math 151

Math 151/152 satisfies the general education requirement in mathematics. Math 151 is the lecture part of a course which has traditionally been called Calculus I. Students are expected to also take the laboratory part of this course which is Math 152. By taking both courses we will cover the material that is covered in Calculus I as taught at many universities. The major topics for Math 151 are:

Students that become proficient at differentiating the usual functions discussed in calculus and proficient with Riemann sums will be far better prepared for Calculus II. Although not every student will take all of the following courses, this course covers material that is needed for Calculus based Physics, Physical Chemistry, and many Engineering courses. There are several goals for students in Math 151 and 152:

As a General Education Mathematics course, this course is intended to help develop your ability to: use abstract and deductive reasoning; think logically and creatively about mathematical problems; be able to interpret, develop and use mathematical models of real world and abstract phenomena.

The links below refer specifically to Math 151 in the current term or in the last term that I taught the course. I only update these web pages if I am teaching Math 151. I appreciate any suggestions or comments about these web pages from my students or others.

Some scans of old exam keys are available below. Please note that these exams will be different from the exams given this term. Knowing how to work the problems on these keys will help you to get more points on the exams this term, but we might cover material this term that we did not cover in the previous terms.
