Acknowledgement (by Dr. Peterson)

This laboratory manual would not have been possible without the laboratory education provided by Dr. Howard Hayden of the University of Connecticut. Dr. Hayden's physics laboratory book for premed and nursing students, Laboratory Physics for the Life Sciences,  was the inspiration for several of the lab exercises in this manual.

I want to thank my wife, Peggy, and my children for enduring my absence during the writing and testing of this lab book.
