Course description: Calculator and computer treatment of problems and topics in Math 151 using graphical, numerical, and symbolic methods.
Pre-or-corequisite: Math 151.
Assignments and Grades: There will be a Mid-term exam and a Final exam each counting 25% toward the final grade. The remaining 50% of the final grade will come from completing computer projects. Every student must hand in their own assignment. Copying parts from another student's assignment is strictly prohibited. Failing to do so will result in a grade of 0 for such an assignment. Computer projects must be handed in on the due date at the beginning of class. 10 points per late hour, with the clock starts running at the beginning of class, will penalize late assignments. The mid-term exam cannot be made up unless you have extraordinary circumstances and have discussed your situation with me. No ‘extra-credit’ assignments will be given.
Grade Scale: A: 90+, B: 80-89, C: 70-79, D: 60-69, F: below 60.
Exam Dates:
Midterm: September 29, during normal class period.
Final exam: Section 001, December 3, 11-1.
Section 002, December 8, 11-1
Attendance: Attendance is mandatory and roll will be taken. Coming late and leaving early should be rare occurrences since it is impolite and distracting to the entire class. However, it is better to be tardy than not to come at all.
Honor Code: Will be strictly enforced as per UTC Student Handbook.
Calculators: A graphics calculator is required for the course. However, no symbolic calculator such as the TI-89 or TI-92 will be allowed during exams.
Attention: If you are a student with a disability and think that you might need special assistance or a special accommodation in this or any other class, contact the Office for Students with Disabilities/ College Access Program at 425-4006 or 110 First Hall.
Caution: Calculus Lab requires more time than any previous math class
