Office: Cadek 301 Phone: 425-5243 Course Calendar: This series of webpages is designed to give you visual aids for the conducting gestures you are learning in Conducting I. Demonstraiting fluid hand/arm motions through diagrams is not the most clear and efficient way of demonstration. That is why these pages were developed. Remember that you are looking at a mirror image so it might be helpful to you to watch yourself in a mirror while you practice so that you are looking at a similar image to the video examples. This is a learned skill and there is no substitute for practice. You have to teach your muscles and brain to do things they have never done and that takes effort. Module 1 - Initial Beats, 3 & 4 Patterns Module 2 - Cues and Releases Module 3 - 2 &1 Patterns & Dymanics Module 4 - 6, 9, 12 Patterns fast and slow Module 5 - Fermata & Tenuto Module 6 - Left Hand, Baton & Accents Module 7 - Off-beat Entrances & Asymmetrical Meters All video review files are optimized for Apple's Quicktime 4 or later
player. If you don't have Quicktime software installed on your computer
and you want it, it is a free download. The address is http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
. Click on the address then scroll down until you see "free download"
and follow the instructions from there. The Conducting forms and online
music are in .pdf format for the Adobe Acrobat Reader. This software is
probably already on your computer but if it is not it is also a free download
