Seminar Description
The seminar will examine current issues in environmental science, law, and policy. There will be presentations by guest speakers, the instructor, and student presentations. Discussion topics led by the instructor may include ANWR, water wars in the Southeast, biodiversity conservation, private property rights, sustainable development, habitat mitigation, ecosystem management, environmental justice, water transfers, and comprehensive land use planning.
Seminar Requirements
This is a discussion based seminar, requiring student participation. Students are expected to discuss assigned readings and other matters in class. In addition, students are required to make a formal presentation. Your presentation should use Powerpoint or a similar program. You must attend the seminar regularly and critique the presentations of your classmates. If you miss more than two classes the "class participation" portion of your grade will be affected, which will likely lower your overall grade.
Materials
Reading materials will be provided by the instructor, will be placed on reserve in the library, or will be posted on the internet.
Grades
Grades are based upon class participation (30%), presentation and outline (50%), and critique of other presentations (20%).
