Task
The students will answer mathematical questions related to each of the chapter themes discussed in Dr. Sussman's book.
The following NCTM standards are covered in this Web Quest:
NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, Standard 3, Geometry, grades 6-8:
Instructional programs should enable all students to use visualization, spatial reasoning, and geometric modeling to solve problems -
recognize and apply geometric ideas and relationships in areas outside the mathematics classroom, such as art, science, and everyday life.
NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, Standard 4, Measurement, grades 6-8:
Instructional programs should enable all students to understand measurable attributes of objects and the units, systems, and the process of measurement
understand relationships among units and convert from one unit to another within the same system.
NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, Standard 6, Problem Solving, grades 6-8:
Instructional programs should enable all students to solve problems that arise in mathematics and in other contexts.
NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, Standard 9, Connections, grades 6-8:
Instructional programs should enable all students to recognize and apply mathematics in contexts outside of mathematics.
