Debbie Ingram is the Director of Clinical Education (DCE)
and UC Foundation Professor of Physical Therapy at the
University
of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In addition to coordinating clinical
experiences for graduate students, her primary teaching responsibilities
include: education and communication, psychosocial reaction to disability,
and physical therapy management. Dr. Ingram is a 1979 graduate of Georgia
State University. She completed her master's degree in education
in 1984 at UTC, and a doctorate in higher education at UTK in 1994. Her
dissertation dealt with issues related to physical therapy students with
disabilities. She is the former Director of Rehab Services at
Erlanger
Medical Center in Chattanooga, where she was responsible for the physical
therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, EMG lab, and hand therapy
departments. Dr. Ingram served on the Board of Directors of the
Tennessee
Physical Therapy Association for many years as the chairperson of Continuing
Education. She also served as the Chairman of the
Tennessee Board
of Occupational and Physical Therapy Examiners. She is a former Vice President of the national organization
for state licensing boards, the Federation of State Boards of Physical
Therapy. This organization develops and administers the National Physical
Therapy Exam. She also served as the Academic Co-Chairperson
for the American Physical Therapy Association's Clinical Education Special
Interest Group. Dr. Ingram is the Federal Government Affairs liaison for the
Education Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Her latest VOLUNTEER efforts have focused on the
University of Tennessee National
Alumni Association. She is the President-Elect and will serve as the
President beginning in June, 2007.
