Victim Services
Our community and each of us as individuals deserve protection against crime and criminals. If you are the victim of a crime, immediately contact the UTC Police Department if the incident has occurred at the University. If you have been victimized off campus, contact the local Police Department or Sheriff's Office and report the incident. If an arrest is made or a warrant is needed to authorize police to arrest a person believed to have committed a crime, a representative of the University Police Department will assist you with court procedures, inform you of your rights and duties as a victim or a witness, and help in making your criminal justice system work for you. By doing so, you will know that you have done your best to make your community a safe one in which to live and work.
Anonymous Reporting
While we strongly encourage you to report crimes, we recognize that victims and/or witnesses sometimes will not do so for a variety of reasons. If you are in this situation, we encourage you to submit an anonymous reporting form. These forms are completely anonymous. No personal information will be collected and no one from the police department will know who you are so no additional contact with you will be made.
Anonymous reports help the University be aware of victimization on campus and assist in creating statistical information which helps with prevention efforts. Please feel free to fill out the form, even if you are not sure it is a crime.
Anonymous Victim Reporting Form - I was the victim of a crime.
Anonymous Third Party Reporting Form - I know someone who has been victimized.
Services for Victims of Sexual Assault, Domestic (Relationship) Violence, and Stalking
The UTC Transformation Project provides leadership working with campus and community partners to reduce violence against women, including relationship violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The Project, campus members, and community partners have created a multidisciplinary coordinating council to ensure that UTC offers a comprehensive approach to preventing and addressing violence against women on campus. The Project also works with our campus and community partners to create policies and protocols that ensure that the campus is responsive to victim needs. It provides training and educational programs as well as information and referral services. The Project offers direct services such as crisis intervention and advocacy. Referrals to community agencies also are available. The Project works with male and female victims as well as friends of victims who may need support. All services are confidential and free. For more information, visit their website or contact Ms. Sara Peters, Program Director (423-425-5605).
