The National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) is generously funded by the Freeman Foundation as a multi-year initiative to encourage and facilitate teaching and learning about East Asia in elementary and secondary schools nationwide. NCTA is a premier provider of professional development on East Asia. Asia for Educators (AFE) receives funding from the US Department of Education.

Advantages of Participation

  • A deeper understanding of East Asia and how to teach about it
  • Complimentary online and print curriculum materials for all participants
  • Accumulate NCTA points for future East Asia study tours*
  • Accepted participants may attend some or all of the sessions although benefits vary with the number of sessions attended
*Teachers who have been on a previous NCTA study tour are not eligible to accumulate points.

Learn about East Asia through working with eminent scholars from throughout the United States from your home computer. These simulcasts are open to both NCTA alumni and teachers who have not previously participated in an NCTA-sponsored program.
