Welcome to UTC Distance Learning! Since 1993 Distance Learning has delivered entire programs and courses to students on and off-campus through two-way interactive audio and video transmission through a state-wide network. Our first two distance education programs were the Masters in Criminal Justice and Masters of Business Administration (MBA), both offered in Knoxville, TN. Since that time, we have broadened our course offerings and are serving a larger student base. The Division of Continuing Education at UTC is pleased to bring our programs to a new, broader audience through technology.
UTC Off-Campus Credit
The Division of Continuing Education coordinates off-campus academic credit programs at UTC. Regular UTC campus courses are also offered at select off-campus locations in order to extend the borders of the University to people, particularly working people, who cannot readily come to the main campus on a regular basis. The quality of the courses is the same as that of the main campus since they are monitored by department heads and instructors and are evaluated in the same manner. We use either our regular faculty or adjunct faculty whose credentials must be approved by the participating department.
One of the primary means of extending the borders of our campus is through the use of videoconferencing technology. Distance education has delivered entire programs and courses to students on and off-campus through two-way interactive audio and video transmission through the state-wide network - EDNET. Our first two distance education programs were the Masters in Criminal Justice and Masters of Business Administration (MBA), both offered in Knoxville, TN. Since that time, we have broadened our course offerings and are serving a larger student base. Continuing Education at UTC is pleased to bring our programs to a new, broader audience through technology. To ensure that these programs have the same quality and consistency as our on-campus programs we have developed this guide for our instructors.
UTC will offer off-campus courses almost any place that can provide an audience. There are, however, some programs that are restricted to campus.
Courses or entire programs can be offered by contract to an institution. A representative of the institution would act as agent with whom UTC would negotiate.
