Guidelines for Teams

1.  Teams may consists of either 2 or 3 persons.

2.  In the Senior Division, each team member must submit the Entry Form and Form (1B).  However, team members must jointly submit the Checklist for Adult Sponsor (1), a Student Checklist 1(A) , (the Team Checklist is on page 2 - scroll down to retrieve) and other ISEF required forms.  Joint forms need the names of both team members on them.  Teams need only to submit one abstract on or before the time of registration.

3.  In the Junior Division, each team member must submit an Entry Form.

4.  Teams must follow all the rules set forth for individual projects by both the Chattanooga Regional Science & Engineering Fair and the ISEF.

5.  Forms are due from each team member by the set deadlines.  If all the forms from every member of the team are not in by the deadline, the team will not be eligible.

6.  One entry fee of $10.00 per team is required.  Checks must be made out to the Chattanooga Regional Science Fair.

7.  Team projects cannot be converted to individual projects or vice versa.

8.  Each team should appoint a team leader to coordinate the work and act as spokesperson.  However, each member of the team should be able to serve as spokesperson, be fully involved with the project, and be familiar with all aspects of the project.  It is highly recommended that all members of the team (in the Senior Division) be present for judging on the Tuesday of the Fair.

9.  Teams are not eligible to enter  in the sweepstakes round of judging.

10.  Full names of all team members must appear on the Entry Form, Abstract, and any other forms submitted.

Judging of team projects will proceed as follows:

A. Projects will be judged at the same time and in the same fashion as individual projects, according to category.

B.  Team projects have the same criteria as individual projects with a teamwork component added in.  These criteria can be found on the ISEF website.

C.  The scores from the category judges will be passed on to a second set of team judges.  These judges will use the subject area scores as a reference only and will give the team projects a new set of scores.

D.  The team projects will then be awarded prizes on the scores of the team judges only, being judged only against other team projects.

E.  Winners from the team category will not go on to the sweepstakes round of judging, and are therefore not eligible to go the ISEF.
