
Winners from the Team Category will not go on to the Sweepstakes round of judging and therefore not eligible to go to the ISEF.
Junior Division Awards
The first place winner in the 17 categories will receive an award and a medal. Each second place winner will receive an award and a medal. First and second place winners also receive a certificate, lapel pin, and nomination to a higher level of competition from Science Service and Discovery Communications, Inc. Each third place winner will receive an award and a medal. Honorable mention winners are also awarded a medal.
Senior Division Awards
The first place winners in each of the 17 categories will be awarded an academic scholarship to the college of his or her choice, a certificate, and a medal. Each second place winner will be awarded an academic scholarship to the college of his or her choice, a certificate, and a medal. Each third place winner will be awarded an academic scholarship and a medal. Honorable mention winners will be given medals.

How we award prizes in each category
We will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each category or will give prizes to the top 1/3 in all 17 categories, whichever is greater. For example, a category with 5 entries would be awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places while a category with 15 entries would be awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places with 2 honorable mentions. The prizes awarded to each student are explained above in Junior and Senior Division Awards.
How we award prizes in the Sweepstakes
All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places winners from the 17 subject area categories (excludes team projects) will advance to the Sweepstakes round of judging. The projects are judged by a group of judges from a variety of subject areas.
The winners of the Senior Division Sweepstakes are awarded prizes as follows:
First grand prize winner: Student and teacher win a trip to the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania including ISEF entry fee; an Academic Scholarship to the college of his/her choice.
Second grand prize winner: Student and teacher win a trip to the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania including ISEF entry fee; an Academic Scholarship to the college of his/her choice.
Third grand prize winner: an Academic Scholarship to the college of his/her choice; ISEF entry fee if he/she wishes to pay for and attend the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania
How we award School Plaques
Points will be given to schools as follows: All first places winners will earn 4 points for his/her school; second place, 3 points; third place, 2 points; and honorable mentions, 1 point. These points are only given for subject area winners in the 17 categories, not for any special awards. All points will be totaled and a plaque will be given to one Junior Division school and one Senior Division school with the most points.
