Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) Review

We coordinate an in-depth review course for the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) examination.  The CPS examination covers three main subject areas: Finance and Business Law; Office Systems and Administration; Management.

  • What is the CPS rating?
    The CPS rating is the achievement of the internationally recognized standard of proficiency as a professional secretary.
  • Why earn the CPS rating?
    Among the rewards for achieving the CPS rating, many of the more than 54,000 CPS holders have reported: pride in accomplishment, increased self-esteem, greater respect from employers and peers, confidence to assume greater responsibilities, college credit toward a degree, pay increases, bonuses and opportunity for advancement. In today's workplace, CPS credentials give an added assurance of employability.
  • How is the CPS rating obtained?
    The rating is obtained by:
    a) completing and verifying educational and employment experience requirements; and
    b) passing a three-part, one-day examination.
  • What are the qualifications?
    Qualifications for taking the CPS examination include a combination of education and experience.
  • When is the CPS examination given?
    An internationalized version of the CPS examination is given the first Saturday in May and November. UTC is an authorized testing center for the CPS examination.

  • Finance & Business Law: Economics (30%), Accounting (35%), Business Law (35%), 120 questions, 2.5 hours
  • Management: Behavioral Science in Business (36%), Human Resources Management (19%), Organizations and Management (45%), 150 questions, 2 hours
  • Office Systems & Administration: Office Technology (50%), Office Administration (25%), Business Communications (25%), 150 questions, 2 hours
