We coordinate an in-depth review course for the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) examination. The CAP rating is the achievement of the internationally recognized standard of proficiency in the secretarial and administrative support professions. CAP credentials can mean assurance of employment, pay increases, bonuses and opportunity for advancement. The CAP examination covers three main subject areas:
- Office Administration
- Office Systems and Technology
To receive CAP certification you must register an pay a fee to the International Association of Administrative Professionals. UTC is an authorized testing center for the CPS examination.
To take the exam and complete your certification, you must provide verification of 2-4 years of work experience. The number of years of work experience varies according to the college or junior college degree you hold.
Education Experience Required
- No Degree 4 years
- Associate Degree 3 years
- Bachelor's Degree 2 years
- All experience must be at least 20 hours per week.
- All experience must be at least 2 months continuous.
- All experience submitted must be within past 15 years.

When is the CAP examination given?
An internationalized version of the CAP examination is given the first Saturday in May and November. UTC is an authorized testing center for the CAP examination.

Management: Behavioral Science in Business (36%), Human Resources Management (19%), Organizations and Management (45%), 150 questions, 2 hours
Office Systems & Administration: Office Technology (50%), Office Administration (25%), Business Communications (25%), 150 questions, 2 hours

UTC, in collaboration with the Chattanooga Human Resources Association (CHRA), is an offical University provider of the SHRM Learning System. This is a comprehensive review for the Professionals in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professionals in Human Resources (SPHR) exams.
