What Should I Do If My child Needs HELP?
How do I refer my child?

1. If your child is having difficulty in the regular education classroom and is not receiving any special education service contact any of the following people to ask for a student support team meeting.
___The regular classroom teacher
___The principal of their school
___The student support team coordinator of your child’s school (Student’s must first go through the SST process before the committee makes a referral for the child to be tested for the special education program. Parents are highly encouraged to take an active role in these meetings and share their thoughts and insights about their child.)
____The Coordinator of Special Education
____The Supervisor of Special Education
2. If your child is moving into the county and has already been placed in a special education program in their previous school.
___First contact your child’s former school and let them know that you are moving and where you intend to place your child in school.
___Second contact the secretary, in charge of new student enrollment, of your child’s new school and fill out the required paperwork letting them know that your child has a current IEP and will need continuation of their current special education program. They will request a copy of your child’s current IEP and eligibility reports.
3. If your child is currently placed in a special education program and continues to experience difficulty please contact:
___First contact your child’s special education teacher
___Next you may wish to contact your child’s other teacher(s).
___You may also want to discuss your concerns with you’re the principal of your child’s school.
___Lastly you may wish to discuss your concerns with the coordinator of special education.
4. If your child is 3, 4, or 5 years of age contact the following.
___ The principal of the school for which your child is zoned.
___ The Pre-school Facilitator
___ The Coordinator of Special Education
