Categories Of Eligibility

1.  Definition - A student or youth from three through 21 years of age is considered to have a disability under the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) if the student or youth meets the eligibility criteria in any of the following areas.

(a)       Autism

(b)       Deaf/Blind

(c)       Deaf/Hard of Hearing

(d)       Emotional and Behavioral Disorder

(e)       Intellectual Disability (mild, moderate, severe, profound)

(f)       Orthopedic Impairment

(g)       Other health Impaired

(h)       Significantly Developmentally Delayed

(i)       Specific Learning Disability

(j)       Speech Language Impairment

(k)       Traumatic Brain Injury

(l)       Visual Impairment

2.              Eligibility Report An eligibility report which documents the area of disability shall be completed and placed in each student’s due process folder.  The eligibility report shall provide key summary statements for each component of the eligibility.

3.   This rule shall become effective July 1, 2000.
