The Education Specialist degree in Advanced Educational Practice is a postmaster's, sixth year degree with a focus on education technology. It is designed to provide teachers and others with high levels of proficiency in the use of technology in school and classroom and other educational settings. Students will be prepared to provide leadership in the field of educational technology.

Students will bring to the program real education-based problems and will apply solutions to real problems in education and training. Designed for the convenience of the practicing educator, the program of study utilizes distance courses, web-based courses, and alternative time schedules. The interdisciplinary faculty is pulled from the graduate education programs, the Center of Excellence on Computer Applications, the Walker Teaching Resource Center, and the College of Business Administration.

The student may seek admission to candidacy status by filing a written plan for the capstone project, which will be presented and defended before a three-member Candidacy Committee. Typically, with a minimum of 16 persons enrolled and accepted the cost per semester would be approximately the same as regular in-state tuition. The tuition per three (3) hour semester course for the 2001-2002 year was approximately $650 per person per course.

Faculty members teaching in the UTC Education Graduate Division have prestigious backgrounds in teaching and research. Through extensive interaction, they seek to extend their graduate students' commitment to their professional disciplines.
