Adult Scholars
The primary purposes of the UTC Adult Scholars Program, which was established in 1986, are to provide peer support to fellow adult students at UTC, to foster an atmosphere of goodwill and academic excellence among adult students, to provide recognition for achieving adult students, and to help keep the administration attuned to the needs of UTC's adult learners.
The Scholars themselves are adults who have successfully returned to school. Some are full-time students, some are part-time students. Some are married, some are single. Some work full-time, some are parents. All are interested in making new adult students welcome at UTC. Socials, workshops, telephone contacts, meetings, community projects, and scholarships are just some of the ways the Scholars try to help.
All currently enrolled students who are at least 25 years of age or older, and who are actively pursuing degree programs on a full or part-time basis, are invited to apply for membership. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 24 non-audit hours with a minimum cumulative and UTC GPA of 3.2 or above.
If you'd like to meet some of the Scholars or find out more about the organization, call or come by the Adult Services Center. Also, more information can be found on the Adult Scholars' website.
