What does an “online classroom” look like?
An “online classroom” provides you with the same high-quality, rigorous instructional activities you would participate in taking a face-to-face course only using more innovative technology integration and a more convenient schedule. UTC Online instructors and faculty use a variety of methods for sharing instructional materials, promoting student interaction and monitoring student progress throughout the course. Some courses may require specific dates and times for you to log into the system for certain activities and assignments.
Students taking online and distance classes should be self-motivated and have excellent time-management skills.
Are online programs and courses comparable in quality to on-campus programs and courses?
Yes. The rigor and quality of the content, as well as the course, are the same for both on-campus and online courses. As an online student, you are UTC Mocs through and through. Your diploma and transcripts will look the same whether you take courses in the classrooms on campus or the online world.
Are online courses similar to independent study courses where I work at my own pace?
No. UTC Online courses are designed and delivered to maintain the same quality and rigor of content as face-to-face courses. These courses will be delivered under the guidance of the instructor with deadlines and activities throughout the semester. These courses will be delivered during the same semester scheduling as our on-campus courses.
