Consultants are Student Writers, Just like You

Our consultants are UTC students, sophomores to graduate students whose majors range from Graphic Design to Philosophy and Religion to Engineering to, yes, even English. Also in the Center are 2-3 first-year student desk workers, who answer phones, greet people, and help with appointments and record keeping.

Hiring: Desk workers are hired at the beginning of each Fall semester. Each Spring, the center will take consultant applications for the following academic year. Anyone interested in consulting should stop by 119 Holt Hall and pick up an application. Successful applicants must also submit academic-style writing samples, participate in an interview with Writing Center staff, and participate in training.
