The Speakers and Special Events Committee sponsors speakers and events on campus. Contact the chair of the committee for more information regarding deadlines, applications, and criteria for funding for these events.
| Who is eligible?: | All faculty and staff |
| What are the criteria for awards? | Financial support for speakers, lectures, and arts and entertainment events sponsored by this Committee comes from student fees. As a result, the highest preference for funding goes to proposals on topics and themes likely to attract significant UTC student attendance. Dates also are important. Events should be held at time that students and faculty are likely to attend. For example, priority is given to events that offer two presentations (both in the day and night) to maximize attendance. Preferential treatment also is given to groups requesting partial funding. Normally speaking, funds will not be awarded for food for events. Applicants who fail to submit final reports to the Committee Chair of Speaker and Special Events for prior awards will not receive funding until they have completed this requirement. |
| What will I receive? | Awards vary depending on available funds, average awards range from $500 - $1000 |
| Where should I apply? | Chair of Speakers and Special Events |
| When are the deadlines? | January 15 and September 15. Applicants are encouraged to apply in the fall semester as about 2/3s of the funding, on average, is awarded in the fall due to the need to allow time for planning and scheduling speakers. |
| How may I use the award? | The Speakers and Special Events Committee is allocated funds annually, from the activities fee, for the purpose of paying honoraria, travel expenses, and other expenses for non-university related speakers or special events presented on campus for students and other members of the University community. It is the responsibility of this committee to ensure a balanced program of speakers and special events. |
| What forms do I use? | |
