What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts. RSS makes it possible for you to keep up with your favorite web sites automatically without having to check them manually.
Why RSS?
RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually. You ensure your privacy, by not needing to join each site's email newsletter. Finally, you can easily unsubscribe from RSS feeds, unlike some email newsletters.
How do I use RSS?
To use RSS, you will need a special RSS feed reader that will allow you to collect and display RSS feeds. There are many different feed readers available, many for free. Some feed readers are applications that you download and install. Some are web-based services you sign-up for that work inside your browser. Here are some popular options:
Once you have set up your RSS feed reader, here's how to subscribe to UTC's RSS feeds:
- right-click (Windows) or ctrl-click (Apple) on the feed subscription link
- copy the link (shortcut or link location)
- open your RSS feed reader
- paste it into the subscription field
Your RSS feed reader will fill up with the latest news or announcements from UTC.
