United Way recognizes UTC
UTC was one of two institutions
to receive the Company of the Year Community Award from the United
Way of Greater Chattanooga . "UTC consistently rises to the
occasion, posting one increase after another each campaign year,"
according to a recent United Way publication.
Faculty, staff and students contributed $102,143, far surpassing
the UTC 2002 United Way goal of $88,000. This effort marked a 19
percent increase in campaign giving. Leadership giving (those contributing
$1,000 or more) also increased by 32 percent.
Richard Brown, Vice Chancellor of Finance and Operations credits
the members of the Chancellor’s Executive Council who served
as co-chairs for the United Way and UTC United Way committee members.
He also receives help in coordinating United Way efforts from Mary
Scott, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Operations.
In 2001, UTC ranked 40th in the nation among colleges and universities
giving to United Way.
