UTC Float Lights up Holiday Parade

It was a cold and festive night when UTC mascot Scrappy waved to a
crowd of thousands lined up along Market Street for the Holiday Starlight
Parade,
part of the Winter Days and Lights events coordinated by the Chattanooga
Downtown Partnership.
Staff from the Office of University Relations served as chaperones
for Scrappy and Debbie Mirra, representing the UTC Student Alumni
Association.

* * * * * * * * * * * * Stay in the holiday spirit by tuning in to WUTC on December 25th for
an entire day of special programming.
6-8 a.m. WUTC will present a Christmas edition of Nationall Public Radio’s
award winning news magazine, Morning Edition.
8 a.m. The world’s most famous popular music orchestra, the Boston
Pops, will provide holiday favorites from the Symphony Hall in Boston.
The symphony will be conducted by Keith Lockhart.
10 a.m. WUTC will broadcast St. Olaf’s Christmas Festival. This
program offers the audience the experience of hearing St. Olaf College’s
a cappella choral group singing both traditional and more modern works.
12 noon The public radio station continues its day of festive choral
work with the holiday singing of the Morehouse and Spelman Glee Clubs.
Korva Coleman is the host.
1 p.m. Christmas Around the Country samples holiday concerts from all
around the nation, hosted by Fred Child.
2-5 p.m. Handel’s Messiah is provided live from Boston. This new
rendition is created by Handel Society and is the 148th annual performance
of the Messiah from the Symphony Hall. The group is directed by Grant
Llewallyn.
5-7 p.m. WUTC will rejoin National Public Radio for a Christmas Day edition
of All Things Considered.
7-8 p.m. Local DJ for an Hour, Debbye Reilly has prepared an hour of
Christmas music. Selections cover the range of music from expected to
unusual.
8-10 p.m. Christmas Jazz, with Ken Dryden. After a Christmas day spent
with relatives and friends, sit back and relax. Enjoy carols and original
music by some of your favorite jazz artists. Among the musicians yo will
hear during this two hour special will b e Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck,
Oscar Peterson, Phil Woods, Joe Pass, and many more. Look for a special
finale by mandolin great David Grisman. |
