Campus says farewell to Chancellor Stacy
The campus and community are invited to a reception
honoring Chancellor Bill Stacy as he leaves UTC. The reception
is scheduled for Thursday,
August 12, 3-5 p.m. in the Tennessee Room of the UTC University
Center. A brief program will be held at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Stacy came to UTC as chancellor in 1997. During his tenure in Chattanooga,
the campus undertook a construction boom of more than $200 million
and included the Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science
Building; the University expansion, and UTC Place Apartments.
The Lupton Renaissance Fund was established in 2001 by a $25 million
gift from John and Alice Lupton. The gift was the largest unrestricted
cash donation to public higher education in Tennessee history.
The fund has been used to enhance the campus in variety of ways,
including the establishment of the SimCenter, an infusion of instructional
technology, and the initiation of doctoral programs on the campus.
In June, The Baylor School, Chattanooga, named Stacy as its headmaster.
