Student
reps to discuss campus political scene
First time voters in the upcoming presidential election may be
unsure which candidate they will support, but there are representatives
from each of the political parties in the student body who want
to encourage their peers to go to the polls in November.
Matt Lea, College Republicans; Adam Green, Campus Democrats; and
Trevor Southerland, Campus Libertarians, will discuss the upcoming
election and how their organizations are working to generate student
involvement on the October episode of "MetroCampus." Chloe Morrison,
editor of the student newspaper The Echo, and
Chris Young of Mocs TV News will also offer their commentaries
on the election.
"MetroCampus" is a public affairs program produced by the Office
of University Relations in partnership with WDSI Fox 61. Chuck
Cantrell, UTC assistant vice chancellor for University Relations,
hosts the program, which provides providing
monthly highlights of campus programs and activities."MetroCampus,”will
air Sunday, October 3, at 11 a.m. on Fox 61. WDSI Fox 61 is carried
on Channel
11 of Chattanooga
Comcast Cable.
“We discuss the political process, why some students
do and don't get active, what these college students think about
the elections
and the process this year. This was not a program used to debate
the issues. Our student leaders are very engaged and perceptive,
and this is a great change to highlight
them,” Cantrell said.
The program is also rebroadcast throughout the month of October
on Chattanooga Comcast Cable Channel 3 on Tuesdays and Fridays
at 7 p.m.,
Mondays
and Thursdays at 10 a.m., and Wednesdays at 8 a.m.
