Chair Co-sponsors Conference on Economic Freedom
The Scott L. Probasco Jr. Chair of Free Enterprise
at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will co-sponsor an international
conference
on Measuring the Impact of Economic Freedom April 4-6 at Wyndham Nassau
Resort, Nassau, Bahamas.
Although the era of big government continues, growth of government has
slowed and in some cases has diminished. Privatization has become a worldwide
phenomenon. Several countries have removed exchange rate controls and
relaxed trade barriers.
There will be a special appearance by Sir John Templeton, Founder of
the Templeton Funds!
This conference will draw presenters from organizations in Sweden, The
Netherlands, Spain, Guatemala, Canada and the U.S. to address a variety
of questions, including:
- How strong is the case for a free-market economy?
- Is there a relationship
between political and economic freedom?
- Does economic freedom make
it easier for authoritarian political regimes to stay in power or
does it generate forces that promote
civil liberties
and a more open political structure?
- What can we learn from recent
liberal reforms adopted in Chile and New Zealand?
The hotel registration deadline for this conference is
March 2, and the conference registration deadline is March 12. You
