Fellows Selected for 2003-04
The Center of Excellence for Computer Applications (CECA) at UTC and the
Walker Teaching Resource Center announce the selection of the 2003-04
Teaching, Learning & Technology Faculty Fellows: Dawn Ford,
Biology & Environmental Sciences; Pat Kopetz, Graduate
Studies (Education); Richard Rice, History; Cathie
Smith, Physical Therapy; Naomi Sutherland, Library;
amd Joe Wilferth, English.
The goal of the Faculty Fellows Program is to develop faculty experts
in a variety of teaching, learning and technology topics and issues.
“The Faculty Fellows will serve as models to other UTC faculty on
the use of effective teaching and learning strategies and will also provide
limited support to faculty in the CECA Computer Curricular Integration
Lab (CCI Lab) and the Walker Teaching Resource Center,” according
to Dr. Karen Adsit, director of the Walker Teaching Resource Center.
Overall, the program is designed to help selected faculty to:
- Broaden research skills into the area of scholarship of teaching,
- Develop skills in instructional and curriculum design,
- Prepare and facilitate seminars for the UTC campus on issues and topics related to the scholarship of teaching, learning, and technology,
- Develop skills with software tools to design meaningful integration of technology into the classroom,
- Provide support for activities in the CECA CCI Lab and the Walker Teaching Resource Center, and
- Serve as visible and exemplary models of teaching and technology integration in the curriculum.
