The University Theatre will perform Wallace Shawn's Aunt
Dan and Lemon in the Dorothy Hackett Ward Theatre

It is clear that our times are complex and that we are faced today with
complicated moral choices. Aunt Dan and Lemon,
written in the context of four decades of the Cold War, is perhaps more
timely now than when
it was written and first produced in 1985. The play takes
us into the world of a young recluse who tells us of memorable summer
when she was eleven and came under the influence of a family friend
whom she calls "Aunt Dan." The conversations that take place
between
them in a small house at the bottom of an English garden form the
focus of this play about political orientation and the allure of
certain ideas—even when they lead to murder.
The Cadek Department of Music at
UTC will present a fall choral concert on Tuesday, November 18 at 7 p.m.
in Roland Hayes
Concert Hall, Fine Arts Center at UTC. Participating Choruses

The Chamber Singers and Chattanooga Singers are directed by Dr.
Kevin Ford who is the new Director of Choral Activities and
accompanied by Cindy Beirne. The Singing Mocs are directed by
Kimberly Cargile. Music from the Renaissance through the current
day will be featured including music by, among others, Byrd, Handel,
Willan, Dickau and Whitacre. Admission is free.
The UTC Percussion Ensemble, directed by Dr.
Monte Coulter, will present "Beat Hunger '03" on Monday
, November 24 at 8 p.m. in the Hayes Concert Hall, UTC Fine Arts
Building at
the corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets.

season in Chattanooga. A donation of two non-perishable food items
or a two-dollar check for the Chattanooga Community Kitchen is requested
at the door. (No cash will be accepted on the UTC campus.) |

The ensemble will perform works from the best of recent concert percussion
literature—by composers such as Lynn Glassock, Jean Sibelius,
Christopher Deane, Allan Blank, and others.
The UTC Percussion Ensemble is recognized throughout the Southeast
as a premier concert percussion group.
“This event regularly collects more food than can be driven away
in one trip,
and hundreds of dollars to feed the hungry and the homeless in our beautiful
city.
Please come and be a part of this holiday tradition!” said Coulter.
