Education Offers Professional Development Seminars
In conjunction with New Horizons Computer Learning Center, The Continuing
Education Department and the College of Business Administration at The
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is offering a Professional Development
Seminar Series this summer.
The first seminar will be held Thursday, June 19 and
will cover the topic of diversity. Dr. Gail Dawson will offer a broad
overview of diversity, including managing diversity, communicating in
a diverse workforce, and overcoming barriers to diversity.
On Thursday, June 26, Dr. Molly Takeda will cover interview
skills development, identifying key interview skills essential for selecting
talented individuals.
Change management will be addressed on Thursday, July 10,
when Dr. C.S. White will address the fundamentals of change necessary
to create a forward movement in your organization. Topics include change
processes, obstacles to change, managing change and adapting to change.
Dr. Lawrence P. Ettkin will focus on quality management on Tuesday,
July 17. Ettkin will discuss the fundamentals of quality management
including cost, customer orientation, performance, and problem causation.
On Tuesday, July 24 Ettkin will focus on project management,
offering information on proper techniques to plan, organize, control,
document, and close projects out successfully while minimizing the risk.
Dr. Mark Mendenhall will cover effective leadership on Friday,
August 8 with a comprehensive overview of leadership theories,
skills and principles. Mendenhall will demonstrate how the quality of
leadership existing within an organization significantly influences productivity
and task effectiveness.
Individual seminars meet 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and cost $295. Group discounts
