UTC MBA
Program to Graduate Cleveland Students
An unprecedented partnership between the College of Business
Administration at UTC and Maytag Cleveland Cooking Products created to
provide an on-site Master of Business Administration (MBA) program for
the Cleveland, Tennessee, area will graduate five members of the class
at summer commencement exercises on Sunday, August 10 at 2 p.m. in McKenzie
Arena. The on-site program provides the same coursework and adheres to
the same application and degree requirements offered on the UTC campus.
Since spring semester, 2001, the group has met Tuesday and Thursday nights,
according to Kim Gee, executive director of UTC graduate programs. The
classes follow the same University schedule as on-campus students. During
the first summer session, Dr. Bev Brockman taught Small Business and Entrepreneurship,
followed by Business Leadership with Dr. Mark Mendenhall. Dr. Mohammad
Ahmadi finished the program with the capstone course Business Simulation,
featuring a computer stimulated competitive business environment.
“People have joined the group as the program progressed. Since anyone
from the Cleveland area was welcome to join, four of the 16 participants
are not Maytag employees,” Gee said.
A new MBA class will begin in January, 2004 at Maytag in Cleveland, and
Gee is hoping to start the class with 25 participants. “The people
who have expressed interest in the new program are from Maytag, M &
M Mars, Cleveland State, Check into Cash, and Bradley Hospital,”
according to Gee.
If you live in the Cleveland area and would enjoy the convenience of earning
your MBA without the commute, email Kim
Gee or call her at (423)425-4210.
