12/18/2000 New Director Heads Center for Community Career EducationCynthia Wood will serve as the new director for the Center for Community Career Education, a non-profit, career and educational counseling and training center at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. During her tenure at Chattanooga Cares, Wood provided prevention/education training to over 160,000 individuals and she has been instrumental in securing federal, state, local and private grants. Most recently, Wood held the position of Prevention Program Manager for Chattanooga Cares. Wood majored in psychology with a minor in African-American Studies as an undergraduate. She received the B.S. from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Professional certifications for Wood include: HIV/AIDS instructor for
the American Red Cross, HIV/AIDS counselor for the Center for Disease
control, pre and post-test counseling/partner notification for the State
of Tennessee Department of Health, and she has received outreach strategies Wood has served as the chair of the Chattanooga CARES: Minority AIDS Task force; as a member and on the steering committee of the Tennessee AIDS Council; as sub committee co-chair of the HIV/AIDS Regional Advisory Committee, and as the subcommittee co-chair of the Southeastern Tennessee Regional Minority Health Coalition. |
