Exploring Gender: new Women’s Studies major offers events in October

The new Women’s Studies major at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is kicking off October with these special events:

Wednesday, October 15
The foreign Language Department will show the film Frida starring Selma Hayak and Alberto Molina at 7:15 p.m. in Brock Hall 201.  Free and open to the public.

Wednesday, October 22
The Core Ensemble will present Legendary Latinas:  Tres Vidas at 7:30 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Auditorium of the UTC Fine Arts Center.  This musical show features actress/singer Karina Barros portraying Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, Salvadoran activist Rufina Amaya, and Argentinian poet Alfonsina Storni.  Free and open to the public.

Thursday, October 30, 7:30 p.m.
Friday, October 31, midnight

Women’s Studies will present The Rocky Horror Show as a fundraiser for the program.  Performances will be held in the University Center Auditorium.  Tickets are $12 per person and can be purchased at the UTC Arena box office, at tickettracks.com or by calling 266-6627.
