Unit Web Site Procedures
All university departments, units, special programs, and student organization accounts will now be hosted on our main website server. This will provide robust support and additional performance for these sites while also providing additional features.
The site currently supports: standard web pages, server-side includes, and centralized cgi-bin access for common applications, i.e., cgiemail, cgifile, etc. In addition, it supports PHP web pages and MySQL databases.
If you have a need for a specific application and wish it installed in the central cgi-bin, or desire a MySQL database please contact the university webmaster.
Connecting to the server
You will connect to the server via WebDAV (rather than FTP) . Here are a list of clients that support WebDAV connections:
- Dreamweaver (Windows or Mac)
- NetDrive (Windows)
- Goliath (Mac)
- Cadaver (Linux)
The WebDAV URL for access to the web server is:
https://www.utc.edu:8080/Account ID/
Account ID is the login id for the unit, comparable to your personal UTCID. If you use a generic email address for your department, the related Account ID is the same. For example: https://www.utc.edu:8080/univrel/ where univrel is the Account ID for University Relations.
Your username is your UTCID and your password is your MocsNet password.
Contact the university webmaster if a change or additional user is needed. Student Organizations require contact by faculty advisor or Student Development.
