Giving increases through Birdfeeder Campaign

A new way to promote alumni giving has been launched through The Birdfeeder Campaign, a marketing plan developed with the assistance of the UTC Alumni Board of Directors.

The Chancellor’s Office, Alumni Affairs, the Development staff, and the UTC community are working to boost alumni participation at or above the national average for peer institutions, since UTC has seen a steady decline in its overall alumni participation rate in giving during the past decade. At the close of fiscal year 2003, the rate had slipped to 6.9%.

Two UTC alumni groups were solicited; those who had never given, approximately 38,000 and 2,500 donors who had given the previous year, but not the current year.

UTC Development data indicates mail solicitations with the new birdfeeder logo, and a fall and spring session of phone calls made by the Central Annual Giving Office of the UTNAA have moved the University closer to its goal of increasing giving to 10%. The Birdfeeder Campaign will continue through the coming year.

Increased alumni giving would have a direct impact on UTC’s national ranking.

If you have heard from the University and you would like to participate, we welcome your support. Please contact the UTC Office of Development at 423/425-4232 for more information.
