William E. Brock Jr. Scholarships
The
William E. Brock Jr. Scholarships were established in 1979
through a gift from the Lyndhurst Foundation to the University
of Chattanooga Foundation to enhance the scholarship endowment
for the University Scholars Program. At that time, the UC Foundation
changed the name of the University Scholars Program to the Brock
Scholars Program in memory of Mr. Brock, a prominent Chattanooga
businessman and community leader who served for many years as chairman
of the Board of Trustees for the University of Chattanooga and
for the UC Foundation. Although the Brock Scholars Program was
renamed the University Honors Program in 1987, Brock Scholarships
have continued to be awarded to as many students in the UHON Program
as possible based on available funds.
Since its inception, the Wiliam E. Brock Jr. Scholarship endowment has
provided funds for over 425 students to attend UTC.
